Unleash your creativity with our Monthly Sewing Classes for Kids and Adults at the Stitch Machine POP UP Sewing School at Open Arts Factory
Create everything from trendy upcycled clothing to stylish accessories!
Learn sustainable sewing, decorative mending, and transform your wardrobe from dull to fabulous! Led by Lucy, our resident sewing teacher, textile artist and co-organizer of Stitch Cafe Cadiz (a community of sewists and makers) Workshops run every second Saturday of each month and each month expect to experiment and learn the following: Sculpting and manipulating fabrics, textile techniques, adapting commercial patterns and duplicating clothes from your wardrobe to create new pieces. Turn trousers into tops, tops into trousers, trousers into skirts. Learn creative embroidery techniques and mending skills to transform your clothes. Play with the school’s mannequin, sewing machines and toolkit.
Both adult and kids workshops will offer the same content, adapted to suit the levels and abilities of each group. Sessions are offered in both Spanish and English. We encourage to bring your own clothes to recycle but you can choose from our recycle clothes and fabric box too! Always something exciting there to upcycle.

Acting - Scene Study

In this class you will be challenged with studying a character and bringing that character to life in a scene with another actor using existing material. You will have to learn how to understand a writer’s intention, build a character’s backstory, take direction, learn to actively listen to your scene partner, and bring a unique individuality to the role.

Art Portfolio Development

This class is for students who are studying art and/or plan to take AP, IB or GCSE or A-Level exams.
Students will be taught how to build an Art Portfolio. following guidelines for AP, International Baccalaureate or IGCSE and a level requirements.
They will be given a number of assignments and become familiar with different media, techniques and styles in two- dimensional work as well as three dimensional formats. They will learn how to develop a cohesive body of work centered exploring a self- generated idea or theme.
A variety of equipment and materials will be available for students to use and they will be encouraged to push themselves creatively through exploration and experimentation. Learning to write artists statements, self critique and group critique will also be included.

Whether you're brand new to sewing or looking to refresh your skills, this class will give you the confidence and knowledge to bring your creative ideas to life.
You’ll gain a strong foundation in sewing and pattern making through practical, hands-on lessons and guided projects. We’ll cover everything from how to use your tools properly to creating simple garments for women, men, and children.

A variety of sewing techniques to build your skillset
How to take accurate body measurements
