Acrylic Painting

Students will explore color mixing, brush techniques, layering, and composition through a variety of guided projects. We'll paint landscapes, still life, abstract works, and more—building confidence while encouraging each artist’s unique style to shine.

Introductory to advanced levels welcome!

Class size is small and individual attention will be given to each student with level of experience taken into account. 

In this class you will learn basic to more advanced watercolor techniques and which papers, brushes and other materials are best for certain techniques.

You can expect to learn about:

Mixed Media Art

This is a creative art course that is personalized to the individual preferences, ideas and interests of each student.

No experience required. 

Students will be taught how to use different techniques and materials in order to develop their own ideas using intuition, imagination, self generated ideas, references from observation, experience and original photographs. No copying!

Utilizing drawing, painting collage and printmaking techniques along with traditional and experimental materials, students will create unique, expressive and personal works of art.

Palette Knife Painting

Discover a bold, expressive way to paint in this hands-on class focused entirely on the use of palette knives.

Whether you're new to painting or looking to loosen up your technique, this course explores how to create rich textures, dynamic marks, and vibrant surfaces using knives instead of brushes.

Students will learn how to load and apply paint, blend directly on the canvas, and use layering techniques to build depth and movement. We'll cover a range of subjects, from abstract compositions to landscapes and still life, while encouraging each student to develop their own expressive style.

Wheel and Slab Techniques

Explore the art of ceramics through the dynamic combination of slab construction and wheel-throwing in this hands-on studio course. Designed for both beginners and intermediate potters, this class introduces students to the foundational techniques of working with clay, from hand-building with slabs to shaping forms on the pottery wheel.

Participants will learn how to design and build functional and sculptural forms, explore surface treatments and glazing methods, and gain a deeper understanding of the firing process. Emphasis is placed on creativity, craftsmanship, and developing a personal aesthetic.

Whether you're interested in creating mugs, bowls, and plates or more abstract and expressive pieces, this course offers the tools and guidance to bring your ideas to life. All materials and firings are included.

Kids Ceramics & Pottery

Slab and Wheel Fun!

Get ready to play with clay! In this creative and hands-on class, kids will learn the basics of ceramics through fun projects using both slab-building and the pottery wheel. Perfect for young artists who love to make things with their hands, this class encourages imagination, experimentation, and messy fun!

Students will explore how to shape clay into cups, bowls, animals, and more using simple slab techniques and beginner-friendly wheel throwing. Along the way, they’ll decorate their pieces with textures, colors, and glazes—and see their creations come to life after they’re fired in the kiln.

Jewelry Making & Enameling on Metal

Learn to create unique, wearable art in this hands-on jewelry making class focused on metalwork and enameling techniques. Perfect for beginners and those with some experience, this course introduces students to basic metal-smithing skills and the colorful world of vitreous enamel.

You’ll design and fabricate your own pendants, earrings, pins, and more using copper and other non-precious metals. Students will learn how to shape, texture, and solder metal, then bring their pieces to life with vibrant enamel colors using kiln or torch firing techniques.

StitchMachine Beginners & Kids

Unleash your creativity with our Monthly Sewing Classes for Kids and Adults at the Stitch Machine POP UP Sewing School at Open Arts Factory

Create everything from trendy upcycled clothing to stylish accessories!

Learn sustainable sewing, decorative mending, and transform your wardrobe from dull to fabulous! Led by Lucy, our resident sewing teacher, textile artist and co-organizer of Stitch Cafe Cadiz (a community of sewists and makers) Workshops run every second Saturday of each month and each month expect to experiment and learn the following: Sculpting and manipulating fabrics, textile techniques, adapting commercial patterns and duplicating clothes from your wardrobe to create new pieces. Turn trousers into tops, tops into trousers, trousers into skirts. Learn creative embroidery techniques and mending skills to transform your clothes. Play with the school’s mannequin, sewing machines and toolkit.

Both adult and kids workshops will offer the same content, adapted to suit the levels and abilities of each group. Sessions are offered in both Spanish and English. We encourage to bring your own clothes to recycle but you can choose from our recycle clothes and fabric box too! Always something exciting there to upcycle.

Ready to think on your feet and have a blast doing it? This beginning improv class is the perfect place to start! Through games, exercises, and short scenes, you’ll learn the core principles of improvisation—like “Yes, and…,” active listening, collaboration, and staying present in the moment.

Designed for total beginners, this class creates a supportive, low-pressure environment where you can build confidence, boost creativity, and develop quick-thinking skills that apply both on and off the stage.

You will gain confidence in building unique characters using the power of your imagination. As a group you will build short stories and play games that supports teamwork and communication. Great for committing to your goal of unlocking your imagination and confidence!

Acting - Improv 2

Take your improv skills to the next level! This intermediate class is designed for students with prior improv experience who are ready to deepen their scene work, sharpen their instincts, and expand their range as performers.

Through engaging exercises and scene work, you'll explore advanced concepts like character development, emotional honesty, status dynamics, environment work, and group scenes. You'll also get more comfortable taking creative risks and making bold choices that elevate the ensemble.

Acting - Scene Study

In this class you will be challenged with studying a character and bringing that character to life in a scene with another actor using existing material. You will have to learn how to understand a writer’s intention, build a character’s backstory, take direction, learn to actively listen to your scene partner, and bring a unique individuality to the role.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Listening and responding in the moment

  • Emotional connection and authenticity

  • Working effectively with a scene partner

Starting with neutral scenes then moving to published works, this progressive course explores and grows your capabilities as an actor. You will be assigned a scene partner so regular attendance is encouraged.

This class is for people 18 years or older and runs for 6 weeks.

Art Portfolio Development

This class is for students who are studying art and/or plan to take AP, IB or GCSE  or A-Level exams. 

Students will be taught how to build an Art Portfolio. following guidelines for AP, International Baccalaureate or IGCSE and a level requirements.

They will be given a number of assignments and become familiar with different media, techniques and styles in two- dimensional work as well as three dimensional formats. They will learn how to develop a cohesive body of work centered exploring a self- generated idea or theme.

 A variety of equipment and materials will be available for students to use and they will be encouraged to push themselves creatively through exploration and experimentation. Learning to write artists statements, self critique and group critique will also be included.

Sewing & Pattern Making

This beginner to intermediate course is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in learning how to sew and make their own clothing. Whether you're brand new to sewing or looking to refresh your skills, this class will give you the confidence and knowledge to bring your creative ideas to life.

You’ll gain a strong foundation in sewing and pattern making through practical, hands-on lessons and guided projects. We’ll cover everything from how to use your tools properly to creating simple garments for women, men, and children.

You’ll Learn:

  • How to use essential sewing equipment and utensils

  • Common sewing terms and what they mean

  • A variety of sewing techniques to build your skillset

  • How to take accurate body measurements

  • The characteristics of different fabrics and how to work with them

  • The basics of pattern making and pattern cutting

  • How to sew basic garments for women, men, and children

This course is ideal for beginners, but also offers valuable techniques and practice for those with some sewing experience. By the end of the class, you'll have completed a number of small projects and at least one custom garment — and you'll have the skills to keep creating on your own!
