Susan Granados Solis
Susan Granados Solis: Restorer specializing in bibliographic and documentary material. Bachelor of Fine Arts and Visual Arts with a specialization in Conservation of Movable Property from the National University of Fine Arts of Peru, with studies in the Master's Degree in Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Collaborator in the development of guidelines for the storage, handling, transfer, cleaning, and exhibition of bibliographic material at the National Library of Peru, where she served as a restorer on the Conservation Work Team from 2015 to 2024.
She currently teaches training courses on the conservation of bibliographic material for volunteers at the Casa Fernandini Historical Archive in Peru. She also combines her personal projects in the restoration of movable property with teaching bookbinding workshops for various audiences and cultural institutions.

Intensives with Phil Flanagan
Introduction to relief printmaking using the Linocut technique.
Come and learn the basic principles of linocut printmaking in the friendly environment of Open Arts Studio.
In this 6 hour workshop, you will be working on one 10cm square design with the aim of producing prints and custom Christmas cards that you are proud of and can use.
I will guide you through all the steps from planning, transferring, carving and proofing, to printing your design on quality art printing paper and fabric. We'll explore different ways of mark making on lino, as well as various printing techniques and ink effects.
Photos and illustrations are provided for your inspiration, or you can work from your own sketches or photos. You will be working with traditional art linoleum, professional carving tools and pinks, handprinting tools.
This workshop is designed to teach you the basic techniques for linocut printing, with time for experimentation and asking questions. We wYou will leave with more skills and an insight into the process of linocut as an easy art form that can be done at home with very little space or special materials required. You will take home all the prints and blocks you make during the workshop.
No printmaking experience required. Everyone from 10 years old and up and artistic abilities are welcome.

tea, fresh coffee and biscuits throughout the workshop
an information sheet on good basic linocut equipment and suppliers
What to bring:
Please wear old clothes that you don't mind getting inky (or an old apron).

Introduction to relief printmaking using the Linocut technique!
This beginner throwing ceramics intensive course, taught by a master potter Phil Flanagan, is designed to introduce students to the fundamental skills of pottery-making. Over the duration of the course, students can expect to learn:
1. Centering and Pulling: Master the essential techniques of centering clay on the wheel and pulling up walls to create symmetric, well-formed vessels.
2. Making Vertical and Horizontal Forms: Learn to craft a variety of shapes, including tall, upright vessels and wide, horizontal forms, enhancing your versatility and creativity.
3. Trimming and Altering Forms: Discover how to refine and modify your pottery after initial throwing, focusing on trimming, adding texture, and adjusting shapes for a polished finish.
4. Glazing Techniques: Explore a range of glazing methods to bring color, texture, and durability to your pottery pieces.
Join us for this immersive course to develop your throwing skills, gain confidence, and create beautiful, functional ceramics under the guidance of an experienced master potter.

Intensive Throwing Class for Beginners
About Phil
Phil works from his home studio in a small hamlet on the north coast of Cornwall in the UK. His work focuses on wheel thrown tableware and decorative pit-fired pieces fired with sawdust and seaweed from local Cornish beaches. He takes his inspiration from his love of nature and the ever-changing Cornish coastline.
Originally from Liverpool, he spent over 30 years working as a surgeon, mainly in the UK but also in Africa and Australia. In 2017 he decided to make his hobby a full-time commitment, retired from surgery, and started Goonearl Ceramics.
He has taught manual skills throughout his whole career and specifically pottery over the last five. He loves sharing his own knowledge and collaborating with and learning from others.
