This beginner throwing ceramics intensive course, taught by a master potter Phil Flanagan, is designed to introduce students to the fundamental skills of pottery-making. Over the duration of the course, students can expect to learn:
1. Centering and Pulling: Master the essential techniques of centering clay on the wheel and pulling up walls to create symmetric, well-formed vessels.
2. Making Vertical and Horizontal Forms: Learn to craft a variety of shapes, including tall, upright vessels and wide, horizontal forms, enhancing your versatility and creativity.
3. Trimming and Altering Forms: Discover how to refine and modify your pottery after initial throwing, focusing on trimming, adding texture, and adjusting shapes for a polished finish.
4. Glazing Techniques: Explore a range of glazing methods to bring color, texture, and durability to your pottery pieces.
